Sovereignty
Sovereignty claims are made by building a static base anywhere in a system. If another faction is occupying the system then they will take offense to this encroachment on their territory and will demand the player remove their bases. NPC factions will generally not encroach on a player’s sovereignty claims as long as one of the following holds true:
- The player gained sovereignty by conquest in the last 2 yan.
- The player gained sovereignty by building the only static base in the system in the last 2 yan.
- The player is the current sovereign and is occupying the system with fleets of at least 10 million SCU.
- The player is the current sovereign and is occupying the system with fleets that have produced or consumed spare parts in the last 32 dian.
Exceptions
NPC factions may encroach on a player’s sovereignty claims that otherwise meet the above requirements in the following circumstances.
- the NPC faction gained de jure sovereignty by conquest in the last 64 dian. A player attempting to snatch sovereignty between the time that an NPC fleet destroyed the last sovereign fleet of an opposing faction and the time that the NPC faction can build its first sovereign base will not be considered a valid claim. Note that not all factions will wish to occupy all systems so players can still sometimes acquire territory vacated by other factions.
