Equipment and Effectors
Equipment
| Type | Effects |
|---|---|
| Warp drive | Mounted on ships to provide normal-space acceleration |
| Jump drive | Mounted on ships to provide jump capability. Jump drives have a minimum size of 1000 modules to be effective at all. If damaged below 1000 modules the jump drive will be unusable until repaired to at least 1000 working modules |
| Armour | An additional protective layer above the hull skin |
| Deflector field | A generator for various kinds of deflector field, particularly good at defending against antimatter and physical dissociator attacks | Deflector stablizer | Recharges the deflector field during combat |
| EPM Shell | Hardened control systems to defend against EPM attack on effectors, determines maximum strength versus EPM attack |
| EPM Agency | Active defences against EPM attack, will replenish effector EPM strength during combat |
Surface Mountings and Effectors
Effectors have a weapon class (WC) determined by their size, which is the optimum hull class that the weapon can target. Unless otherwise stated, to-hit penalties are applied where the weapon class is greater than the hull class that is targetted. A weapon class that is double the targetted hull class will suffer a -50 to-hit penalty.
| Type | Abbreviation | Effects |
|---|---|---|
| Nova Emission | kNE | Nova emission is a raw energy attack that is very effective at overcoming deflector fields. Less effective against hull and armour which have better reflective capabilities. |
| Antimatter | kAM | Antimatter is very effective against armour and hull, but easily deflected by fields |
| Physical Dissociator | kPD | A physical dissociation attack attempts to change local physical constants to disrupt matter. It ignores armour completely but must completely crash a target’s shields before being able to damage the hull. kPD effectors affect large regions of space and do not suffer to-hit penalties based on target size, but do less damage than equivalently-sized kNE or kAM effectors |
| Electromagnetic | kEM | Electomagnetic effectors are used to target enemy effectors directly, attempting to penetrate the opponent’s EPM capability to disable the effector without damaging the ship. To-hit penalties are based on the weapon class of the targetted effector rather than the hull class of the targetted ship |
| Spatial Early Warning | SEW | Long-range scanners that can detect threats out of system. SEW effectors have a minimum size of 10 modules |
| Dredge | DRG | Increases the yield of installed extraction facilities |
| Infrastructure | INF | Decreases the manufacturing time of installed factories |
| Warp Booster | WRP | Boosts ship acceleration |
